Profile: Prof. (Dr) Sumit Sinha is a renowned neurosurgeon who accomplished his neurosurgical training form All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. Dr. Sinha has been the Professor of Neurosurgery at Department of Neurosurgery. All India Institute of Medica Sciences, New Delhi. Dr Sinha over the years has been associated with various stalwarts in the field of neurosciences. Some of the prominent neurosurgeons of international repute, with whom he has been trained and performed surgeries are-Prof Hirotoshi Sano (Japan), Prof Tetsuo Kanno (Japan), Prof Louis Vialle (Brazil), Prof B Meyer (Germany), Prof. Sinha has since then obtained training working various parts of the World with Neurosurgical stalwarts and enhancing his surgical training and expertise. Dr Sumit Sinha is the founder secretary of Indian Society of Peripheral Nerve Surgery-and runs a successful fellowship program for training in the field of Brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery He is an accomplished researcher with several scientific research projects under his name, funded by national agencies such as ICMR.DBT etc. He has acclaimed several national and international awards to his name and has more than 250 research publications in various peer-reviewed neurosurgical journals, has authored three books on various neurosurgical topics and numerous national & international awards to his name. The most prominent of his research projects being the role of stem cells in spinal cord injuries and finding a miracle neuroprotectant for traumatic brain injury, funded by the ICMR and DBT, for which he won the prestigious Young Investigator research grant and also won the prestigious Basic Science Research Award in the " Association of Spine Surgeons of India" annual meeting in 2016,held at Singapore.Dr. Sumit Sinha has been instrumental in establishing a cadaver dissection laboratory at JPNA Trauma Centre. This facility is one of its own kinds in India and abroad, where young surgeons can develop their surgical skills by practicing on human cadavers, and has trained more than 2000 delegates over past two years.
